Welcome to the Port Jervis City School District!
I would like to welcome all students, teachers, staff and
community members back to what I know will be a very rewarding
and productive school year!
Together as a school community, we accomplished a lot of great
initiatives last year. I know that this spirit of collaboration
will continue to flourish as we begin another new school year.
I am proud to serve as your Superintendent and excited to be
able to continue to work collaboratively with the Board of
Education, administration, teachers, staff, PTA/PTSAs and the
community. Together, we will continue to dedicate ourselves to
making our district the best it can be.
One of my ongoing goals has been improving student attendance. I
am happy to say that our attendance rates districtwide continue
to be among the highest they have been in years. While this is a
notable accomplishment, we still have room for improvement. Keep
in mind that if the students are not in class, we cannot educate
them. We will carry on with our threefold plan: Continue to make
positive connections with families and students; focus on new
and exciting activities, both during and after school, to meet
the needs of the children; and make good attendance a community
issue. I am proud to announce that we have hired a districtwide
Guidance Counselor whose main responsibility is to focus on and
support good student attendance. Together, we can all ensure
that our children will receive the well-balanced and quality
education that they need and deserve.
I invite you to use our
website, which includes further information and resources for
you, including teacher web pages, photo galleries and an
interactive Google Calendar. Additionally, you can sign up to
receive SNN electronic news alerts and also sync your mobile
device to Google Calendar to receive reminders about district
As always, I invite you to contact my office with your
questions, comments or concerns. All communication is good
communication. Together, we will make a positive difference for
our children and schools!
