Port Jervis Schools are Wired for Success

Port Jervis has been working vigorously since 2006 to integrate technology in its schools. The District has steadily invested in equipment and software to meet the challenges of today’s rapidly evolving technologies. School computer labs were upgraded. Students have unprecedented access to computers, lap tops, Elmos, and web-based computer programs. All classrooms are also now equipped with interactive Smartboards.

In the summer of 2012, a wireless network was installed at Port Jervis High School and the access points needed for the future integration of wireless technology at both elementary schools.

Technology Plan

The Technology Plan is enabling the district to meet the challenges of rapidly evolving technologies in support of student learning and achievement. This plan fully supports the district goal of preparing students as productive 21st Century citizens. We envision a technology rich environment where technology provides a seamless connection to learning and the world.

The 2013-2016 Technology Plan supports the New York State Education Department vision that "Educational technology applications will deepen student engagement and improve student achievement by enabling them to access and analyze information, solve problems, collaborate with others, and communicate their thoughts and ideas. Effective use of learning technologies will allow students to become self-directed, self-motivated, and life long learners."
