Senoir parent/Student Information Night

October 5th, 2017 - PJHS, NY - Senior Parent/Student Information Night is this Thursday, October 5th at 7 PM in the HS AUD.  All parents and guardians of seniors as well as 12th graders are invited to attend.  Topics covered during this valuable presentation will include the college search and college admissions process, SAT, ACT, the excelsior scholarship and NCAA.


Mark Calendar PSAT/NMSQT exam is Wednesday, October 11th, 8:00am - 12:30 pm at Port Jervis HS.

Sophomores and Juniors should register for the PSAT in the High School Guidance office by Friday, October 6th.  There is no charge for 10th and 11th grade students.
Freshmen or Seniors who are interested in taking the PSAT may register for $15.

College Fair at SUNY Orange April 26th

April 26, 2017 - Middletown, NY - The annual Orange County Counselors Association college fair being held in the athletics building at SUNY Orange in Middletown today, Wednesday, April 26th, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. This is a free public event and a great opportunity for students and parents to meet with college reps and gather information about schools and programs that may be of interest to you.


 Class of 2021 - Freshman Class Orientation

April 18, 2017 - PJHS - Notice for Parents and guardians of all 8th graders.  Port Jervis High School freshman class orientation will be held Thursday, April 27th, 6:00 pm at the high school.  We will be sharing information that will assist both students and parents in their preparation for the start of ninth grade.  Please arrive by 5:45 pm as this event is scheduled to start promptly at 6:00 pm. Important information packets will be distributed.  EVENT IS FOR ALL 8th Graders and their parents.


 PJHS Scholarship List Now Available

December 1, 2016, Port Jervis, NY - The PJHS 2016-17 Scholarship List is now available in the guidance office. Seniors, please stop in and see Mrs. Schields to register. If you wish to apply for these scholarships you MUST be registered in guidance.


Mount St. Mary College free registration 11/17

November 18, 2016, Port Jervis, NY - Staff from Mount St. Mary College, Newburgh, NY, were in the PJHS Guidance offices Thursday reviewing applications and offering FREE Admission to their school.  Nearly a dozen PJHS seniors took advantage of the no fee application.  The guidance department is committed to working with each senior to find the right college, technical school, or career field for their future.  Port Pride!  Mount St. Mary Admission Day Photos HERE>


Suny Orange instant acceptance days

November, 2016, Port Jervis, NY - Staff from SUNY Orange (OCCC), Middletown NY, were in the PJHS Guidance offices recently reviewing applications and offering FREE Admission to their school.  52 PJHS seniors took advantage of this opportunity.  The guidance department is committed to working with each senior to find the right college, technical school, or career field for their future.  Port Pride!  SUNY Orange Instant Acceptance Day returns in the Spring 2017.  Check with your guidance counselor for information.


College Week 2016 - Oct. 31st - November 4th

October 31 - November 4, 2016, Port Jervis, NY  - COLLEGE WEEK is a state-wide initiative which is part of the American College Application Campaign.   This is effort of the American Council on Education to increase the number of students who pursue a postsecondary education.  Port Jervis High School has activities planned all week.



2016 College and career Fair

November 2, 2016, Port Jervis, NY - The Port Jervis High School Guidance Department is proud to host the annual College and Career Fair, Wednesday, November 2, 2016, in the Ed and Lou Banach Arena of Port Jervis High School.  Over 100 colleges and career fields will be present.

Six guidance counselors are available to assist our students. Each student is assigned a counselor who follows him/her through four years of high school. Assignments are made alphabetically by last name.

 The 2016-17 High School Curriculum Guide is available online to help students build schedules wisely by providing course descriptions, prerequisites, graduation requirements and information about special programs. Features, such as a Planning Worksheet, are designed to help students select courses that will meet their graduation requirements, and enable them to work toward their own educational, career and technical goals.
