Port Jervis Girls Basketball Program Earns Honors!

February 13, 2017 - Port Jervis, NY - The Orange County Basketball Officials Association presented the Port Jervis School District Girls Basketball Program the 2016-17 Team Sportsmanship Award at a pregame ceremony Monday.  This honor was given to all three levels of girls basketball here in Port Jervis, Girls Modified, JV and Varsity.  Congratulations to these young ladies who play hard and fair with good sportsmanship and respect for the game, opponents, officials and coaches.  Port Pride!

Port Seniors Showcase Talents

January 26, 2017, Scranton, PA - Port Jervis High School seniors Taylor Forestire, Lili DeGraw, and Cheyene Otto were invited to participate in the Marywood University Senior Wind Band Celebration Festival Concerts the weekend of January 20th. Taylor and Cheyene performed in the Celebration Band, led by University of West Georgia Director of Bands and Associate Professor Josh Byrd. Lili DeGraw performed in the Honor band, under the direction of Samuel R. Hazo, accomplished composer and teacher from Pittsburgh. Congrats to these ladies for this great accomplishment!

PJSD - Indoor Walking Trail - at the high school complex Indoor Walking Trail Open

January 2017, Port Jervis, NY - The Port Jervis City School District is re-opening the Indoor Winter Walking Trail at Port Jervis High School. Offered free-of-charge to all district residents, the indoor course provides community members, teachers, staff, students and parents with a convenient location to walk during the cold winter months.  DETAILS>

Port Art on Display at SUNY Orange

December 2016, Middletown, NY - Each year since 2012, the Orange County Human Rights Commission collaborates with the Orange County Arts Council and SUNY Orange Cultural Affairs to present "An Artist’s Response to Human Rights," an art exhibit celebrating the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.  Several Port Jervis High School art students submitted works for this exhibit.  Details HERE>

Girls Basketball, Winners On and Off the Court

December 21, 2016 – Port Jervis, NY – For a 5th year in a row the Port Jervis JV Girl's Basketball team donated gifts to the Port Jervis Elks Club. The girls donated toys to children in need during this holiday season.  Photo HERE>

Port Honors "Lu"

December 21, 2016 – Port Jervis, NY – The Port Jervis High School Athletic Department unveiled a new gymnasium scorer’s table in a ceremony prior to the boys basketball game vs Fallburg last evening.  The table was named in honor of the late Luann McCarthy.  McCarthy was a physical education teacher, longtime coach, and official score keeper at Port Jervis High School.  McCarthy passed away last year after a long battle with cancer.  Details HERE>

Sophomore Class Shirt Sale

December 14, 2016 -  Port Jervis, NY - The Port Jervis High School Sophomore Class (Class of 2019) is selling apparel now through January 15th. The "Port Train" design, by PJHS students Samantha DeVaux and Megan Lissner, is available in Short and Long sleeve T-Shirts as well as Hoodies. All items can be ordered online to be delivered to the high school on or about February 1st. Also Available - Embroidered button down oxfords and sport polos with the classic PORT Logo. All apparel may be purchased at the Port Jervis Class of 2019 store. Flyers with additional information were given to students in the Sophomore Class.  Port Grad a Shining Star at Mercy College

December 1 2016, Port Jervis, NY - Malerie Baker has never stopped working towards her goals. Baker, PJHS Class of 2012, is well on her way to great success. She's recently completed her undergraduate degree (accounting) and will earn her masters from Mercy College in 2017. Hard work and dedication have led her to an opportunity at Ernst and Young, one of the most prestigious accounting firms in the world.  To hear her story, click HERE.

Endowment creates Outdoor Learning Center

September 6, 2016, PJHS, Port Jervis, NY The Dr. Lawrence Taylor Wildlife Learning Sanctuary Grand Opening was held after school, Friday, September 6th.  Staff and students who volunteered to help assemble the sanctuary were on hand for the ribbon cutting and release of fish into the koi pond.  This project was made possible by the generous financial efforts of Dr. Taylor(PJHS Class of '56, HOF 2015).  Complete news story HERE>
