The decision to delay the opening of school, dismiss early, or
close school for the day due to weather conditions is never an
easy one. Our priority is always the safety of the children.
When Port Jervis is forced to close or delay
schools or to dismiss students early due to inclement weather or
other emergency conditions, that information is reported here,
on the district web site, and on local radio and television
stations.
Parents are asked to please try
avoid calling the school offices for this information since it
is important to keep phone lines free in case of emergency.
Please note:
The Transportation
Announcement Line, 858-5867, and the old transportation office
phone, 858-3213, will no longer be in service after
April 1, 2010.
School
closings, delays, early dismissals and other situations
that affect transportation services are announced on
this web site, and on local radio and television
stations
listed on the
Emergency Closing Page.
Parents can
also sign up to
receive SNN (School News Notifier) text messages and/or email
alerts
about early dismissals, inclement weather delays, and other
school emergencies.

Have a plan for early
dismissals
When there's an early dismissal due to bad weather, high school
students are released first, followed by middle school and then
elementary students. No matter what grade level your children
are, parents are reminded to make sure that all school-age
children know what to do in case of an early dismissal.
Make arrangements with a sitter,
neighbor, friend, or relative who can be called on in such
situations - and review your plans with your children on a
regular basis.
