New NY State Booster Seat Law

Child Passenger Restraints Are Not An
Option.
They Are The Law!
Effective November 24, 2009:
•All children must be restrained in an appropriate child
restraint system while riding in a motor vehicle, until they
reach their 8th birthday.
•An appropriate child restraint system is one that meets the
child's size and weight recommended by the manufacturer.
•The safety belt in your vehicle is not designed for children. A
booster seat raises your child up so that the safety belt fits
your child correctly and provides better protection.
For more information, see
Quick Tips about the new child passenger
restraint law or the brochure on
New York State's Occupant Restraint Law.
Elementary Parents
– If you
have a question or concern, the best place to start is your
child’s teacher. If the issue cannot be resolved at that level,
you should then contact the principal or assistant principal.
Secondary Parents -
If you
have a question or concern about something that occurred in a
class, please contact the specific teacher. If your issue
involves student discipline, please contact the assistant
principal’s office. For all other issues, the guidance
department is probably the best place to start. If the issue
cannot be resolved at that level, you should then contact the
school principal.
The
Code of Conduct of the Port Jervis City School District meets
all of the requirements of New York State’s Project S.A.V.E.
(Safe Schools Against Violence in Education). The Code of
Conduct contains procedures relating to discipline, detention,
suspension and expulsion. It also includes appropriate standards
for student language, dress and behavior.

Please note: The Code of Conduct opens in "PDF" format
and requires the Adobe Acrobat Reader in order to download
and print. If you do not have Adobe Acrobat on your
computer, you can get a free copy from the
Adobe web site.
