PJMS 3rd Annual Career Expo 2017

Students meet and talk with area leaders in business, technology, medicine, and more

June 1, 2017 - PJMS, Port Jervis, NY - Students in Port Jervis Middle School got a chance to meet with a lawyer, veterinarian, architect, banker, baker, and more, at the Third Annual PJMS Career Expo.  This event gives middle school students an opportunity to interact with people in our community who represent a diverse group of career fields.  Students asked about the path to get to these career fields and the amount of studying and effort.

Most enjoyable was keynote speaker Sean Donnelly, co-owner of the Fox N Hare, a new business developing in Port Jervis.  Donnelly spoke of his journey through  high school, college and his arrival here in our city.  He gave the students sound advice about working hard, learning to learn, and following their passions.  The question and answer portion of his talk was especially exciting as students got to learn about what it takes to own your own business.  On a lighter side, students didn't shy away from asking Donnelly about his beard and the efforts it took to grow.
